For the first 40 years of my life, like most people, I took life for granted, followed the narrative, and went with the flow. Yes, I had ambitions for better things and tried hard to achieve them. Yet on the surface I believed that my destiny was largely beyond my control and what would be would be. Moreover, I rarely questioned my life and its purpose, pretty well drifting from day to day in the hope that my purpose was mainly to thrive and survive. Then, at 40, my life took an unexpected turn with the birth of my third child Emily who sustained serious brain damage which would literally dictate the nature of her life and ours for the rest of her days. It was from that moment that I found myself thinking deeply for the first time in my life, asking some very profound questions, and getting equally profound answers. I had discovered a new and refreshing way to approach life and its challenges, by provoking thought.
Hence this site and its purpose.
Let me stress however, that the purpose you’re about to discover is not simply about how I learned to question life and get answers, but about how you should do the same too – by provoking thought.
I wish you every success.
